Social Enterprise Workshop 8th October in Dunkeld

Firstport and Scottish Business in the Community run Evolve workshops on a regular basis matching Social Enterprises with teams of 4 or 5 from the private sector to help with overall business planning, tackling a current issue, or preparing for future growth and expansion. To date these teams have come from John Lewis, HBOS, Clydesdale Bank and others. The Social Enterprises have been many and varied, as you would expect. These are one day events, and tend to be quite intensive.

On 8th of October up to 200 business consultants from Pricewaterhouse Coopers for the day will be available. The organisers are looking for up to 50 Social Enterprises to take advantage of what is on offer. Firstport will work with them to ensure they are well prepared and supported thereafter.

This is obviously an excellent opportunity for many Social Enterprises to access the support of experienced experts and specialists. Equally important it will be an opportunity for the sector to make its mark with the business world and the public at large, raising our profile and credibility.

Previous Evolve workshops have resulted in solid plans that have been well challenged and tested and the Social Enterprise or charity can ‘hit the ground running’ the next day. Obviously Firstport can work to help cover any gaps in skill or resource needed to make the plan happen.

Quotations from some Social Entrepreneurs who have experienced an Evolve workshop

"Blown away by whole experience"

"Was great how the business managers personal experience and skills transferred from private sector business to the social enterprise sector"

"Don’t have time to go to a lot of events and choose carefully - but this was great"
