This page provides
information and links to organisations who have funding available to Voluntary Groups and Organisations .
The economic situation, its likely effects
on our sector and its duration are causing concern, and it is unclear yet to what extent the availability of grant-funding
will be affected.
Some of you, particularly
those involved in trading or with trading arms, or with major assets such as buildings or land in your ownership, should perhaps
also be considering loans as a means of obtaining funding. It is true that loans have to be paid back, but there are two loan
providers in the voluntary sector and operating in our area which have a specific interest in the voluntary sector and in
social enterprises and offer more attractive loan rates than commercial equivalents.
Invertay Social Investment Fund (ISIF) can offer loans of up to £50,000 to social enterprises
and other voluntary organisations at a repayment rate which would be negotiated but be based on the organisation’s financial
situation. The repayment rate can be as low as 1.5% above base rate, much more attractive than what banks would charge.
Social Investment Scotland (SIS), can offer larger loans of up to £200,000
to the same organisations at a fixed rate of 8%, and they may work with ISIF in jointly financing a loan greater than ISIF’s
£50,000 maximum.
Such opportunities are
certainly worthy of consideration by organisations involved in trading or with the collateral to enable them to take out a
loan. The offers come from bodies which know the voluntary sector well and are part of it, and ISIF has voluntary sector representation
on its Board.
