One of the advantages of Community Car Association Membership is access to "preferred" parking spaces at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Vinci Park staff have been trained to recognise the badge when displayed.

Information about the Community Car Association

This information has been agreed following a review between PKCTG, Brian Main, (Head of Site & Support Services, Dundee) and Gordon Brown (Contract Manager, VINCI Park Dundee Ninewells) in July 2011.

The following guidelines are available to help voluntary car drivers and their organisations:
There is a £1.80 charge for all parking on site, with few exceptions.

Parking and escorting a patient/visitor to a ward or department at Ninewells Hospital?
There are 3 bays currently marked Ambulance Bays on LEVEL 6 (Signposted Admissions) - CAR PARK 7A. These bays are available for free use by voluntary car schemes and their volunteers who display their Community Car Association membership badge.

DO NOT PARK IN THE BLOOD DONOR BAYS.

Dropping off a patient/visitor at Ninewells Hospital?
LEVEL 7 has five drop off bays available for use. Vehicles must not be parked or left unattended. 

Disabled/Blue Badge Parking at Ninewells
Ninewells Hospital has 94 Disabled spaces, 70 of which are near the hospital entrance.
Disabled persons have to pay to park at Ninewells. 
 

Maximum four hour stay car parks Car Parks 5, 6 & 7 (Car Park 7 for disabled parking) are restricted to four hours parking for £1.80. This results in a fast turnover in spaces. Parking fees apply 24 hours; however the four hour restriction is removed between 6pm and 8.30am. The main car parking reserved for patients and visitors is located in car parks 5, 6, East Block and A & E.  

If it looks as if you will be over time due to clinic or ward delays, ask clinic or ward staff for excess time slip – they have them all ready printed – and just go to Vinci Office on way out.

A Courtesy Bus circulates from Car Park 9 to the hospital entrance every 10 to 15 minutes. The bus has a tail lift, air conditioning and operates between 9am and 5pm.
  • If you receive a penalty sticker in a short stay area, due to clinic or ward delays etc and receive a penalty sticker there is a blue card enclosed with the ticket, which tells you what to do to appeal against the penalty.

    Hospital Mobility Initiative (located in the main disabled car park car park 7)

  • At Ninewells, patients and visitors are able to access free use of electric scooters and manual wheelchairs using the Hospital Mobility Initiative Scheme.
  • To access this service the user has to register, provide 2 proofs of ID (including proof of address) take a short assessment and complete an application form. The process takes around 40 minutes and the user will be issued with a membership card. Once validated the user can pre-book or just show their card to access the service.
The Ninewells Hospital Mobility Scheme received National Recognition at the British Car Park Awards in March 2008. Entered under the Innovation Category, they did not receive an award, however received the “Special Judges Award” and “Overall Award”.

Car Parks 5 and 6 at Ninewells are restricted to four hours parking for £1.80. Parking Fees in Car Parks 5 and 6 apply 24 hours, however the four hour restriction is removed between 6pm and 8.30am.

HOSPITAL TO HOSPITAL LINK

From 7th April 2008, a new bus service will link Perth Royal Infirmary and Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The service is run using (wheelchair accessible) low floor easy access buses and operates hourly on weekdays and every two hours at the weekend.
The service (number 333) is for patient, visitor and NHS Tayside staff use - the cost is £2.65 for an Adult Single fare and £4.75 Adult Day Return. 
Older and  disabled people travel free with a National Entitlement Card.
